Collection 1.

Auckland is a pretty exciting place to be this week. For those of you who haven't heard, it is New Zealand's Fashion Festival. Fast becoming a tradition with a huge following, this event has the groundings of a second fashion week, and the feel, but without the elite-ness. There are clothes galore and it does indeed "showcase exciting and innovative collections from New Zealand’s top designers and retailers", the only downside it the fashion is all things that are either in-store or coming in the next few months, and some things that were seen at New Zealand Fashion Week last year. Still exciting, still an amazing evening of far too many beautiful people in one place and still an event I recommend all people get their butts a long to and check out.

One thing that has been incredible with this years festival has been the hype. This city is alive with fashion and you can't turn your head without getting all excited about it. Check out some of my favourite looks that strutted down Shed 10's catwalk on Monday nights first collection show.

Brit Awards fashion awesomeness.

Just a little fashion love moment, when I saw Caroline Flack at the Brit awards. Isn't she gorgeous? Battling the floor length gown bonanza with double glitter and a side of satin, Miss Flack looks like a breath of fresh air. I quite literally love the entire look and want to own it. Like now.

Gooey for Ruby.

So an absolute favorite of mine, Ruby, has just released their winter campaign shoot. Here's a little Thursday afternoon fashion eye candy for all of you.

Jeepers creepers (or a damn good knock off).

Like most fashion conscious people, when walking past a Kumps store, I either look away or cross the street. The idea of buying shoes purely on their comfort level is just a bit silly in my six inch heel addicted mind. So I was skeptical when looking at their new Ziera rang coming into stores over the coming cooler months. But much to my surprise I spied an absolute gem. Looking almost as gorgeous as the Prada Creeper, I introduce to you guys the 'Micky' ($249). Which is both insanely good looking and like walking on butter. If you are into that, which I totally am.

Kdub.

So it has become a slight tradition for me to take a look at (potentially) New Zealand’s most famous fashion designer’s shows. Even though I haven’t been reporting on New York Fashion week here, I have been keeping a subtle eye on it, so I couldn’t go past a look at Kdub. Of course.

Seemly lacking her usual complete madness, this Autumn/Winter collection was very subdued for a usually outlandish print addicted Walker. She was back with her shoes and accessories, which for me, are becoming stronger and more desirable that the clothes themselves. Having said that, the slightly toned down nature of the show made the looks strutting down the catwalk a lot more wearable.

The acid bright paisley style print brings a retro theme to an otherwise super contemporary looking collection. I am quite a fan of this type of juxtaposition that Walker usually has in her looks, I am glad its still coming through.

My personal favourites were the blue and white ensemble with scarf and clutch accessories, this is something I would 100% wear right now and feel super confident in it. I also liked the coats, Karen always does amazing winter coats and although they are dear, the quality is worth it and the way she bridges the gap between on trend and classics makes each one a staple that I would kill to own.

Over all I like it, I would wear most of it, but it doesn’t get me as super excited as her Spring/Summer collection did.

Underage fashion.

At the grand old age of 23 I am starting to feel a bit old. I really hoped to stifle that predetermined realization until at least my 30th birthday. But alas, it has hit me like a tone of chic bricks.
The reason? Because the people I’m turning to for fashion inspiration these past few months all happen to be pint sized, underage and insanely well dressed.

Take Chloë Moretz for example. She has been in some of my favourite movies, has the smarts of someone well beyond her years and always looks incredible (and age appropriate), at 14. At 14 I was still wearing spice girls paraphernalia and every so witty slogan tees. I could have learnt a lot from Miss Moretz, maybe then I wouldn’t feel the need to burn all photos of me pre-uni.

Elle fanning is another little lady (13) who has my fashion sense going weak at the knees.  Dakota’s younger sister has started to steal the limelight and I completely see why.

So, I will slap on that moisturizer, keep looking to these (and other) demure ladies and feel happy that for the first time in my fashion life I can turn to people are actually my height for style guidance, even if they are half my age.

Kind of a post.

So, it’s been a while, and a lot has happened. My life has had a bit of an upheaval in almost all ways; job, living situation, personal life! But after a couple of months of trying desperately to get everything back to a (kind of) working order I am starting (kind of) to feel a little more on to it (kind of). I hope, for those of you living in the great NZ, you’ve still been reading my weekly column at New Idea magazine and getting a wee fix of my ever so witty (kind of) commentary on the fab a flop frocks on red carpets.

It’s a brash claim, but I am feeling brash (kind of), I’m back.
